Micromax Canvas Lite A92 Launched Online at Rs 8,499 !

Micromax has really been moving in a very fast pace. The homegrown mobile manufacturer has made a very impressive impact on the mobile phone world. Specially the Canvas series has brought the brand into more highlight. Not only that, the upcoming Canvas 4 from Micromax has been the most hyped one among all the Canvas series.

The constant teaser posted on Facebook and the specs leak has brought it to the close to the international spotlight. The Canvas 4 however, is on preorders as of now. And guess what!!! This is not the end to the Canvas series because Micromax recently also launched their device called Canvas Lite A92 on Infibeam. The device now is up for pre-orders on Infibeam one of the popular e-commerce site at Rs 8,499.

However, the device should be available at retail stores and online stores over the weekend. The phone was earlier available for pre-booking on Flipkart as well, but the website now mentions that the phone is "Out of Stock". To go by the specs, Canvas Lite A92 sports a 5-inch capacitive touch screen display that offers a a resolution of 480x800 pixels. It is powered by a MT 6577 1GHz dual core and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The phablet is also supported by a 512MB RAM. The Canvas Lite A92 has a 5 megapixel camera with flash. It has an internal storage space of 4GB, which is expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G, Bluetooth v4.0, USB connectivity and WiFi. The phablet is powered by a 2000 mAh 4.2 V Li-ion battery. However, this midrange phablet may face quite a bit of problems regarding the price range and also the specs. Canvas Lite A92 is very much likely to have a hot battle against devices like

Micromax Canvas Viva A72, Lava Iris 501, Spice Stellar Horizon Pro Mi-505, Videocon A45 and Karbonn Smart A111. Moreover, most of the devices mentioned above come with a lesser android version but other specs are quite similar. All the devices fall under the similar price range and most are priced lesser compared to the latest Micromax Canvas Lite A92. Here below on the slides GizBot has cared to come up with a brief rundown of the specs, features and price of the above mentioned 5 budget phablets.

Android 4.3 spotted !

Sam Mobile just obtained some screenshots of an early Android 4.3 build running on a Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505). The test build was originally for the Google Play Edition Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505G), as we can see from the screenshot of “About phone”.

According to the screenshots, the Android version is “4.3” and the build number is “JWR66N.S005.130625“. Android build number is “JWR66N,” and “S005.130625″ is something which Samsung has added to keep a record of internal test builds.

Google hasn’t made Android 4.3 public yet, but it’s good to know that OEMs already have access to the source code. Early access will result in quick software updates and less Android fragmentation.

Vine For Android Updated With Front Camera Support !

Thanks (or no thanks) to Instagram announcing a video feature of their own, reports are suggesting that the number of downloads of Vine have declined, with recent reports showing that the number of shared Vine videos has gone down as well.

Perhaps in an attempt to regain some of its user base, or as an added incentive to keep existing users using their service, Vine for Android has been updated and with its latest update, it will now bring support to front-facing cameras. We’re not sure what took so long for Vine to introduce this update, especially since it was more or less a given and sort of an expected feature to begin with, but we guess better late than never, right?

Apart from the added support of front-facing cameras, there are additional updates made to the app such as bug fixes, performance tweaks and the likes. Android users who have yet to update their app can head on over to Google Play to do so.

BlackBerry changes its tune, won’t update PlayBook to BB10 !

The company that once promised a BlackBerry 10 update for its aging PlayBook tablet, which was released over two years ago, has reneged on the offer. According to CEO Thorsten Heins, the device just never felt right with the test versions of BlackBerry 10. The experience was not up to the company’s high standards. This is likely due to the older dual-core Cortex-A9 architecture of the 1Ghz Snapdragon chipset, along with the monumental task of having to re-engineer core aspects of the BlackBerry 10 experience.

Though Heins assured thousands of PlayBook owners in January that they would be able to anticipate an update to BlackBerry 10, it seems that the company wants to focus on the future, and tablets are not a part of that roadmap at the moment. Heins said that BlackBerry wants to have a maximum of six products on the market at one time, and there just isn’t room for a form factor — tablets, both small and large — that he thinks will not have a market in five years.

Disappointing news, indeed, for PlayBook owners still holding on to hope, but not all that surprising given the state of the company’s finances. Wanting to focus on what actually makes them money, and cleaning out the cruft in their lineup, is the first step to profitability.

Update: Here’s the full transcript of what Heins said during the call:

“Let me also make some comments on Playbook. Our teams have spent a great deal of time and energy looking at solutions that could move the Blackberry 10 experience to Playbook. But unfortunately, I am not satisfied with the level of performance and user experience, and I made the difficult decision to stop these efforts and focus on our core hardware portfolio. We will, however, support Playbook on the existing software platforms and configurations.”
